The Family Caregiver Support Initiative
The Area Agency on Aging provides information to caregivers about services available in their areas. We also link caregivers to training and educational events. Arragements for caregivers to recieve counseling from our pool of local professionals can be made after a brief intake.

The Family Caregiver Support Initiative Provides:

  • Information and Referral
  • Education
  • Evaluation
  • Supportive Counseling
  • Legal Counseling
  • Financial Counseling

Who is Elibible?
Residents of Gadsden, Jefferson, Leon and Wakulla Counties who are:

  • Caregivers of seniors who are age 60 and above
  • Grandparents and older relatives who are raising children under 18
  • Individuals who are 60 and above who provide care and support to persons with mental retardation and related developmental disabilities.
If you live outside of these counties and need support, please contact the service office in your area.

How Much Does it Cost?

Our services are available at no charge through Title IIIE of the Older Americans Act. While no fees for services are required, we do accept donations.
